2021 EL
DORADO COUNTY FAIR:
Canceled
El Dorado County Fair
Association Statement: "It is with much regret that
the
Fair Association
Board and Staff has
made the decision to cancel
the 2021 Fair.
With the
fairgrounds being utilized as
the base camp for the Caldor
Fire, and their departure date
still unknown, we felt that
hosting a fair during this
time of crisis was not in the
best interest of the
community, many are all still
dealing with the trauma and
devastation of this fire. In
fairness to our Sponsors,
Vendors and Stakeholders,
canceling it now as opposed to
later this month was the only
decision for all." |
2021 ROCK, GEM & JEWELRY SHOW:
Canceled
As a result of continuing Covid-19
government public health requirements,
the El Dorado Mineral and Gem Society
has made the difficult decision to
cancel the October 2021 show. Current
state government test/vaccination
requirements for all participants of
large indoor events impact both the
dealer community and potential
attendee turnout. Additionally, El
Dorado County Fairgrounds are
currently in use as a base camp for
the Caldor fire. While progress on
containing the Caldor fire is being
made, with the unprecedented fire risk
in California this year, facility
availability for non-disaster events
cannot be guaranteed.
This has
been a difficult year on all fronts
and the cancellation decision was not
made lightly. We are looking ahead to
holding the show in 2022 and hope that
you will be able to join us then.
EL DORADO COUNTY LIBRARY DISPLAY: September 2021
Library is
Open.
Each year, our members set up case exhibits of
rocks, gems, handmade jewelry and
field trips at our County's Main Library in Placerville. We also
provide educational handouts. It's
always a pleasure to show the public
what gem clubs like ours are all about.
This year, the exhibits will be on
display during the month of
September. We hope
that you can visit the Library and
enjoy the displays. The El Dorado County
Library is located at
345 Fair Lane,
Placerville, CA.
