TIPS ON COLLECTING     SAFETY PROCEDURE 
FIELD TRIP RULES
  • Field trips are open to all rockhounds who agree to abide by the AFMS Code of Ethics , the directions of the field trip leader and practice safe rockhounding.
  • Contact the field trip leader beforehand to sign up and for further information.
  • Remember to wear your name badge and sign in and out with the field trip leader.
  • A Consent and Assumption of Risk Waiver of Liability form must be signed upon arrival at meeting site.

Apr 2 - 5 Chinese Camp, CA,  for opalite, and  Bagby, CA, for Mariposite, crystals, and  jade.     Rain dates are June 18-21, 2021.
Apr 25 Colfax area, CA, for petrified wood, gold, and crystals.

El Dorado County Mineral & Gem Society hosts the Mining &  Minerals Building at the El Dorado County Fair, 100 Placerville Drive, Placeville, CA.   Includes Case display entries open to the public.

California Federation of Mineralogical Societies, (CFMS) Show & Conference, at the Grape & Harvest Festival Grounds, Lodi, California.  
Assistance needed for Set up, Thursday, June 25, and takedown, Sunday, June 28, immedately after close of show.

Nevada for lapis (June 26) and quartz crystals (June 27 & 28)

Jul 17 Ford Point, Foresthill Divide, CA, for various types of quartz crystals in sandstone.
Aug 06-08 Northwestern Nevada for Tuledad agate petrified wood, chalcedony and yard rocks.
Sep 18-20 Nevada for crystals in rhyolite, agate, sulfur crystals and silver ore.
Oct 15-18 Southern Sierra Nevada Foothills, CA: Chinese Camp for opalite and magnesite; and Bagby for mariposite, quartz crystals and jade.
